UNAMG.NET - United Association for moral globalisation
Have you ever asked yourself where your windsurf and water sports equipment comes from and under what conditions it is produced? No, we do not want to make you have a bad conscience now, and you are neither supposed to donate money nor spend enormous amounts of money on fair trade products. Our message is: You can campaign for socially acceptable, humane and environmentally friendly water sports production without having to pay one single penny!
It is enough to look for this UNAMG certificate while browsing for windsurf and water sports equipment:

Windsurf manufacturers, dealers, distributors and retailers that carry this logo have voluntarily agreed to comply with the following principles:
|
|
|
|

|
Refusal and avoidance of inhuman and exploiting working conditions |

Background info on the UNAMG concept
Rising World trade
The worldwide trade undergoes a progressive growth: The economic integration lead to an increasingly globalized world, and also in the water sports sector, that leads to an outsourcing of personnel-intensive production to low-wage countries which also often have low environmental standards.
Price drop for water sports products - a blessing?
The enthusiastic water sportsman can be happy about the low-price sports goods, and importers and retailers benefit from higher margins that can be realized by low purchase prices. But in most cases, they have to give up human rights or the environment in return. The water sports sector is especially affected by this as the production is rather personnel-intensive, for example for windsurf products, surfboards, kitesurf articles, Standup Paddling (SUP) etc.
The consequences :
- inhumane working conditions
- agonizing child labour
- ecologically harmful production techniques
UNAMG does not aim at preventing globalisation or at bringing back the personnel-intensive production to our countries, but we are convinced that the production can be widely socially acceptable, resource-friendly and sustainable in spite of outsourcing if manufacturers, importers and dealers are aware of their huge corporate social responsibility (CSR) and accept to respect the UNAMG code of conduct. This voluntary negotiated agreement enables windsurfers and water sportsmen to take part in decision-making on how the production of water sports products will be - not by donating or something, but by considering the UNAMG.net logo for the next purchase and by buying brands from dealers that are UNAMG-certified and carry the quality seal.
Disclaimer: Please read!
Just because a brand or a dealer does not carry the UNAMG logo, you cannot conclude that that company or brand belongs to the black sheep of the sector. The intention of UNAMG is not to denounce companies or allege that they are not aware of their social responsibility, but to present some of many companies and organisations with a sense of responsibility. If you do not find a certain brand or company on this website, it can be due to many reasons. They might simply not know about UNAMG by now, for example. We would be happy if you told the vendor in question about us and if you suggested a membership (which is free of charge, by the way) - In addition to that, a membership is a good sales argument.
